The 2019 Pan-Armenian Summer Games opened on August 6 with a ceremony at Stepan Shaumian Stadium, the competition’s main venue, in Stepanakert, the capital city of Artsakh. Tashir Group is the general sponsor of the Games. The slogan of the 7th Pan-Armenian Summer Games is “Unity through sports.”
The opening ceremony was attended by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Nagorno-Karabakh President Bako Sahakyan, National Security Service chief and Armenian Football Federation president Artur Vanetsyan, National Assembly President Ararat Mirzoyan and other Armenian and Artsakh officials. Competitions will continue until August 17. Armenian athletes from all over the world will compete for trophies and 260 medals in 17 sports.
Pan-Armenian Games World Committee chairman Ishkhan Zakaryan thanked the sponsors, including the general sponsor Tashir Group, who made it possible to organize the event at such a high level.
A total of 380 international judges from Armenia, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Russia will evaluate the athletes’ performance. Over 5,300 Armenian athletes from 161 cities and 35 countries will participate in the Pan-Armenian Summer Games this year. The closing ceremony will take place on Freedom Square in Yerevan on August 17.
