An innovation center created by the Kaskad holding company opened at the National Polytechnic University of Armenia (NPUA) on November 13. The school’s best students received scholarships from Tashir Group. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Tashir Group President Samvel Karapetyan, NPUA rector Prof. Vostanik Marukhyan and other dignitaries attended the ceremony.

The new center created by Kaskad (part of Tashir Group) is another example of close cooperation between the energy industry and the academia, working together to design and implement energy-efficient solutions in Armenia. Dozens of students and young researchers will acquire competencies in the energy industry, study international practices in information technology and automation. The center is located in a new NPUA building, completely renovated and equipped by Kaskad.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Kaskad board member Sergey Pogosov said, “Modern automation systems are one of the most promising areas in the energy industry today. By creating innovation centers with high-tech, modern equipment, we can train future professionals and open up new opportunities for existing energy specialists in Armenia.”

A similar center was launched at the NPUA in June by Tashir Group, Electric Networks of Armenia and Schneider Electric.

Students will also be offered internship at Schneider Electric and Kaskad.

After the opening ceremony, 55 top students from the energy, mechanics and engineering departments were rewarded with scholarships. Starting from September, the Tashir charitable foundation will be annually awarding $6,000 scholarships to best students.
