December 26 in Sochi Russian government officials on behalf of the President Vladimir Putin awarded Samvel Karapetyan a commemorative medal and a letter of thanks for his significant contributions to preparation and hosting of the ХХII Winter Olympics and XI Winter Paralympics.

The medal “2014 Sochi XXII Winter Olympics and XI Winter Paralympics” is awarded to Russian and foreign citizens and organizations instrumental to bringing the event to life.

The awarding ceremony, headed by the Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities Mikhail Men and the Minister of Transport Maxim Sokolov, was held at the Ministry of Transport. Samvel Karapetyan and other officers of Tashir were recognized for building the new harbor station and rebuilding the harbor of Sochi in 2014.

“Everyone who participated in the grand construction done for the Sochi Olympics has already gone down in history,” said Mikhail Men. “In essence, a new city for athletics, culture and tourism found nowhere else in Russia was built from scratch. In addition to competition arenas, the infrastructure took immense efforts. About 700 kilometers of utility pipework was laid, more than 60 educational, health care, cultural, fitness objects erected. It was solid work, and I congratulate everyone on these well-deserved symbols of merit.”

As part of the Sochi’s harbor reconstruction Tashir Group built a new harbor station, customs terminal, dock, motorboat and yacht mooring, and the entire engineering infrastructure. It also built Grand Marina, an exhibition hall and a shopping center in one. After reconstruction and earth-filling harbor size doubled, reaching 5 ha. Larger vessels could be accepted, and now the harbor already welcomes ocean ships from all over the world. The new harbor station is expected to become an international center for sea passenger and cruise transportation and the largest passenger terminal on the Black Sea.
