The 2019 International Power Grids Forum opened in Moscow on December 3. The annual event hosted by Rosseti is a platform for discussing and resolving the key issues of digital transformation in the power sector.

Cascade Holding Company, which is part of Tashir Group, is a partner of the exhibition taking place in conjunction with the forum. On it stand, Cascade presents modern electrical equipment, e.g., its own KD-2 switchgear , as well as equipment it manufactures together with Mirtek, e.g., single-phase and three-phase electricity meters. The products have been properly tested and certified, including Rosseti’s technical standards, and is widely used by Russia’s biggest grid company on its projects.

The forum brought together professionals from 30 countries and over 400 companies from Russia, China, India, Germany and Italy.

Energy Minister Aleksandr Novak has attended the forum. After visiting the exhibition, he pointed out the advanced level of presented technologies. At the plenary session opening the business program of the forum, the minister said that all the aspects of economic growth and social development hinge on the power sector, and power grids are the key element of this sector, the one that is closest to consumers. The minister also outlined the primary objectives intended to make power grids more efficient and appealing to investors. In conclusion, he mentioned that the industry will mark the centenary of the GOELRO plan in 2020.

Rosseti CEO Pavel Livinsky said that steady demand for modern Russian-made electrical equipment produced an important synergy effect for the entire Russian economy. “Today, Rosseti is the primary customer for Russian equipment and software. Just a couple of years ago, our companies did not produce these things because there was no demand for them. But today, we have demand and, in keeping with the laws of economics, we also have supply,” Pavel Livinsky said.

Cascade has taken part in the Power Grids Expo since 2008. The first Power Grids Forum was organized by Rosseti in 2018. This year, the forum takes place in Pavilion 75 of the VDNKh and will continue until December 6.
