Sergey Sobyanin, Moscow’s mayor, paid a visit to the capital’s latest mall in the south-western part of the city—Avenue South-West, built by Tashir Group.
The mayor called Avenue South-West one of the best malls in Moscow and added that it answers a long-felt need for a modern shopping center near Yugo-Zapadnaya subway station. Numerous small stores and booths had sprung in the vast open space there, but for the last several years the city government has been clearing the area of illegally built shops. With this high-quality mall people of Troparyovo-Nikulino, students and teachers from colleges around Yugo-Zapadnaya can shop and enjoy themselves without going far from their homes, places of work and study.
“I wish to thank the builders and investors, it is really a wonderful mall,” said Mr. Sobyanin after looking at the stores already open and the entertainment area, which includes a Cinema Star multiplex. “There are stores here and a modern movie theater, too. With a shopping center like this people from Troparyovo-Nikulino can get all of their shopping and entertainment needs met next to home. This relieves the city of extra traffic.”
Avenue South-West is located on the intersection of Vernadskogo Avenue and Pokryshkina Street. It is a 85 thousand square meters building with six floors above the ground and three levels of parking space below, for 1,000 vehicles in all. Avenue South-West stands next to Yugo-Zapadnaya subway station, in the densely populated Western Administrative District, which has a well-developed infrastructure. The center’s concept revolves around a mix of 250 popular brands, international and federal, of the Mass Market and Middle+ price segments. Expected traffic is 43–45 thousand visitors a day.
“We have seen active development of stores and shopping centers in Moscow over the last few years. During the last five the total area of commercial objects has grown nearly by one quarter. Moscow is now a world leader in that regard,” said the mayor.
In addition to the modern shopping center, Tashir Group has changed and streamlined public transportation routes in the vicinity of Yugo-Zapadnaya. This has re-directed some of the buses and trolley buses there and relieved the roads.
