Tashir Group has started a reconstruction and modernization project of Satirikon, a Russian state theatre named after Arkady Raikin. The famous Moscow theatre will soon be renewed and uniquely equipped to become one of the most advanced performance venues in all the capital. The revived Satirikon will greet its guests in 2017.

The project includes reconstruction of the building located at 2 Sheremetyevskaya Street. Its functionality will be expanded by full modernization of technical utilities as well as development and installing of modern engineering systems. Konstantin Raikin, Satirikon’s Artistic Director and People’s Artist of Russia, states: “We specifically appreciate working with Tashir, Raikin Foundation’s partner and the developer of Raikin Center of Culture, Art and Leisure. We have waited for the construction to resume for a decade and are now assured that, thanks to Tashir, we’ll soon see our theatre wonderfully renewed.”

Beside reconstruction of the theatre itself, the project suggests construction of a 15-storey apart hotel with the GBA about 20,000 sq m, and an underground parking lot. The new complex will feature around 300 apartments with 1 to 5 rooms each; those will be partly used by the theatre and its company—and available for locals and guests of Moscow.

Satirikon is the fifth significant theatre object in Moscow to appear in Tashir portfolio. Today, Tashir is also developing a new multi-functional building to host Oleg Tabakov Theatre and an affiliate of Chekhov’s Moscow Art Theatre. Back in 2013, Tashir Group developed and equipped the Higher School of Scenic Arts and the Open Theatre of Raikin Center of Culture, Art and Leisure.

Andrey Ilyaev, Vice President, Tashir Group, notes: “We take pride in the fact that, over the past few years, we have successfully implemented a number of significant construction projects to assist Moscow's cultural life and support contemporary theatre.”

Satirikon theatre will not discontinue its work during reconstruction, opening its new season this October in the neighboring Moscow Youth Theatre “Planeta KVN”.
