Tashir Group will construct the Free Calisthenics and Gymnastics Centre for the young alumni of the Olympic reserve school in the city of Orel. Tashir will undertake construction of the facility at all stages through to commissioning. Currently, the design works are being held, which are earmarked for completion by the end of the year. The launch is scheduled for the first quarter of 2016, when the school will be donated to the young pupils.
The new modern centre with a total area of about 4,000 square metres will provide an opportunity for learning to approximately 1,500 children, who are currently graduates of the Olympic reserve school No 3 of Orel. The existing school is capable of accommodating around 630 pupils and is already more than two times overcrowded. Among the school students are celebrated gymnast Julia Bravikova, who is a member of the National Junior team of Russia, and the current world and European champion in free calisthenics.
The Free Calisthenics and Gymnastics Centre will be located on Naugorskoe highway, in close proximity to another iconic sports facility of the city - the Ice Arena. According to the architect’s concept, the new complex will serve as both a practice arena as well as a spectator stand with 300 seats.
Vaspurak Pogosyan, vice-president of Tashir Group and the chairman of the board of the Tashir Charity Fund, comments: “The Tashir Charity Fund has been supporting socially significant programmes promoting sports, health, arts and culture in Russia for many years. Since 2000, we have been implementing a variety of charity projects and we hope the Free Calisthenics and Gymnastics Centre in Orel becomes another contribution of the Group that will breathe new life into the development of youth sports in Orel and foster new sporting achievements for Russia as a whole”.
This is not Tashir’s first project in Orel. In 2012, the Group opened a RIO shopping centre, with a total area of 40,000 square metres. It became the first conceptual shopping complex in the city, uniting over 60 leading Russian and international brands, and providing new leisure opportunities for the whole family. In addition, the launch of RIO generated thousands of new jobs for the city.
