The 2017 Moscow Urban Forum opened in the Russian capital on July 6. Tashir Group is the general partner of the forum. The forum takes place at a new location this year, the VDNKh expo center, and will continue until July 12. The subject of the forum this year is “The era of agglomerations. A New Map of the World.”

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, Economic Development Minister Maksim Oreshkin, Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbas and many other government officials and experts took part in discussions at Russia’s biggest platform for urban planning.

The forum opened with the first plenary session on global agglomeration and Moscow’s development strategy. Speaking at the session, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said, “We should pay close attention to all the elements of the municipal economy. We need to improve our social infrastructure, optimize our transport flows and protect our cultural heritage. I believe you will discuss these and many other, equally important issues at this forum and will come up with promising ideas which will helpe the Moscow agglomeration, one of the world’s biggest  agglomerations, develop further”.

The exhibition layout imitates a modern megacity. Tashir has its own display at the exhibition, presenting the projects of four Moscow transport hubs to be built before 2020. They will significantly reduce the burden on the transport system and create comfortable public spaces at key transport nodes. Also, the display will showcase new landscaping projects of the Kaskad holding company.

The Cinema Star multiplex chain, which is part of Tashir Group, provides entertainment at the Forum, presenting a modern VR theater displaying a gallery of Russia’s best development projects. Over 400 speakers from 64 countries are expected to visit the Forum this year. Additional events related to urban agglomerations will take place at 15 locations in Moscow, attracting about 30,000 visitors.
