On July 4, 2009, Tashir Group proudly opened its Kwan Ski Resort in Kaluga. The symbolic red ribbon was cut by Anatoly Artamonov, Governor of Kaluga region; Nikolay Lyubimov, Head of Kaluga; and Samvel Karapetyan, President of Tashir Group.
Ski Resort Kwan is built in a picturesque area near the Oka River, in the vicinity to Kaluga downtown. The first part of the project to include a unique, hotel-inbuilt ski track and a T-bar lift was commissioned this January, and on July 4, the whole complex was inaugurated and a four-star hotel was added to it. The hotel’s total area is 10,000 sq.m. holding 75 rooms (phone and Internet in all of them), a 300 seat restaurant, a lobby bar, a sports bar, a billiards club and a spa salon (two bath-houses, a mini swimming pool and a bar).

“This is a unique object, unlike anywhere else in Russia. I haven’t seen similar ski resort concepts in the European countries I’ve visited, either. It immediately makes the city more attractive. We are now ready to host people expecting the highest service level. They can be assured their leisure and sports requirements will be perfectly matched here,” noted Anatoly Artamonov, Governor of Kaluga region.
Further development of the ski resort is planned. Tashir Group considers creating infrastructure for virtually all sorts of winter and summer fun: horse riding, quad biking, paintball, tubing, mountain biking, mounting boarding, and even a dirt park. Moreover, a climbing wall, a Rodelbahn and a Ski Rixen will be installed.

A Forest City, i.e. an elevated playground in the trees, 2 to 4m above ground, will amuse kids. Besides, seven more ski tracks and four lifts are scheduled to be added by November 2009, with a water stadium and an aqua park construction to be commenced in H2’10. The resort and sports complex covers 19ha with a capacity of 30,000 people per month. By mid-2010, its investments will reach 42 million USD.
